Branch outings continued

BRANCH OUTING TO YORK 16TH APRIL

Seven members left early from Melton to visit York, the weather played its part and was fine all day.
We arrived in York and made our way to The Punch Bowl which is a Wetherspoons pub for our breakfast. The pub is situated about 200yards from the station and close to one of the city wall entrances.

Weltons- Chocolate Mild
Nick Staffords-Nightmare
Lymestone-Gaul Stone

I sampled the Chocolate mild which was in excellent form, others tried Gaul Stone and Monkey Wrench and these were also in good form.

We made our way over to the Blue Bell which is highly recommended if visiting York, it is not a very large pub, quaint comes to mind. Two of the party had done some of their courting in York but could not remember the name of the pub they visited. Surprise, surprise this was the very same pub and brought back happy memories for them.

Old Bear-Black Mari'a

Beers I sampled were Rudgate Ruby Mild and Old Bear Black Maria. Other beers sampled by the group were Roosters Yankee, Bradfield Farmers Blonde and Osset Silver King, all in excellent condition.

Our next port of call was the Last Drop Inn which is the York Brewary Beer Tap, another highly recommended pub

York Brewary-Constantine, Guzzler, Terrier and Ghost Ale
Moorhouse-Black Cat
Harviestoun-Bitter and Twisted

I sampled the Black Cat, others had Bitter and Twisted

We then visited the Hansom Cab which is a Sam Smiths house, we found the selection poor due to so many being off.

We quickly left and went to the Guy Fawkes Inn again recommended if visiting

Skipton-Copper Dragon

I tried the Dark Force Treason and the Matchlock Mild both were excellent.
 We ended our visit to York at the Maltings which again had a good selection of beers on offer.
